Our supporters
The Neptune Coastline Campaign is lucky to be supported by a wide range of famous people, societies and organisations. Here are just some of our special supporters.
Maggi Hambling CBE
The celebrated artist Maggi Hambling first worked with the National Trust in 2009 when she generously donated a painting from her critically acclaimed series of North Sea paintings to the campaign. The donation was hugely successful, and raised considerable funds towards our work.
Maggi's fascination with the sea is evident in her paintings and her sculpture. One of her best known and celebrated works is Scallop, the sculpture on Aldeburgh beach dedicated to Benjamin Britten.
To commemorate the Neptune Coastline Campaign’s Golden Jubilee year in 2015, we hope to work with Maggi again by commissioning The Wave, a major sculpture in bronze. Our ambition is for The Wave to be unveiled on the fourth plinth of Trafalgar Square in 2015, and then sited permanently at one of our coastal acquisition sites.
The National Trust is looking for support from people and corporate partners who have a passion for the coastline and for art to help us realise this vision. If you would like to know more about how you or your organisation could help us achieve this exciting project, please email neptune@nationaltrust.org.uk
A limited edition copy of Yacht
Yacht is a beautiful limited-edition book produced by internationally renowned watercolour artist Michael Frith to evoke the thrill of being under sail. The sight of magnificent classic yachts at the America’s Cup Jubilee, Cowes, in July 2001 inspired Michael Frith to capture the essence of these beautiful boats.
Spot Red Publishing is offering a donation of £50 towards the work of the Neptune Coastline Campaign for every copy of Yacht purchased by a National Trust supporter. To help our campaign and receive your own copy of Yacht, please enter offer code NTYACHT when purchasing the limited edition book from Spot Red’s website www.spotred.co.uk
John Chancellor prints special offer
Many of the paintings of maritime artist John Chancellor feature coastal areas around the UK, including several areas owned by the National Trust. John’s daughter Tessa is offering limited edition prints of his work, with a special 20% discount to National Trust supporters. For every print sold, £5 will also be donated to the Neptune Coastline Campaign.
This offer was inspired by John Chancellor’s fundraising in the 1980s, when he painted a watercolour to help the National Trust raise funds to acquire land between Start Bay and Sharkham Point in Devon. To benefit from this exclusive discount, visit Chancellor Maritime Prints’ website at www.chancellormaritimeprints.co.uk and quote NT20 in the offer code box.
